3 days of expert training with an intimate group of fellow leaders to step into your most powerful voice and presence.

Ready to change the world?

Time to power up.

Here’s the TL; DR:

  • An intimate cohort of women leaders who are ready to step into their full voice, presence, and power. Done with the “shoulds”. Ready to play bigger.

  • 3 days and 3 nights to focus on what you (really really) want to be and see and do and say, and explore how stepping into your full presence as a leader can get you closer to it in a fucked-up world. This is about individually claiming and collectively reinventing power. These are skills for the next level of your life and career. This is Bad Bitch Summer Camp, with some of the coolest women you’ll ever meet.

  • We’ll be at the Copperhood Resort and Spa, cradled in the beautiful mountains in Shandaken NY. We’ll have the whole place to ourselves!! Fire pit! Alpacas! Your own private room with a huge bed and a balcony overlooking the changing leaves! ALL meals taken care of from a kickass private chef! And we’ll even get you there and back from midtown Manhattan. We’re making this a frictionless experience, so you can concentrate on YOU and what you want.

  • Thursday afternoon, October 20th through Sunday morning, October 23rd

  • Because there is no road map — we're charting the path to power together. Because empowered women change the world. Because we’re building the cavalry that will make that change happen via their voices, their stories, their ideas, and their unapologetic space-taking. And because we really, really wanted to.

It’s time to redefine power — what it looks like, what it sounds like, how we get it, and how we use it.

We’re doing just that, this October, at Bad Bitch Summer Camp*.

*Our original working title. You don’t have to tell your boss.

Are you ready to play big, bigger, BIGGEST?

Welcome to POWER/PLAY: Beyond Executive Presence.

This weekend intensive combines the powerful connection of a mastermind group, the energy of top acting classes and performance training, and the depth of an MBA in communication and leadership presence to provide a real path to power. Our mission at Vital Voice Training is helping women access power in their voice and presence that doesn’t require someone else’s permission — or submission — to exist.

Our 360° approach addresses it all: how you speak, how you feel, how you take space, how you take action, and how you show the f*ck up. We’re going to give you every tool we can cram into our time together, so that when we’re done, you walk out of that weekend owning (not renting) your power — and ready to bring it to work with you on Monday. And we’ll do it all with play leading the way.

Because really, who says stepping into your power has to be so serious?

“I knew deep down that what I had to share with the world was important and powerful, but I was shrouded in self-doubt and never knew how. I always felt like I had to put myself in a box of what it was “supposed to look like,” but it never felt right.

Enter Casey and Julie and Power/Play: Beyond Executive Presence . . .”

What you’ll gain:

  • Your power playbook

What are your communication superpowers? Learn how communication really works in context and how to make strategic choices that feel authentic AND powerful (without imitating Chuck from Sales). Our strengths-based approach will have you realizing the person you want to be most … is you.

  • Nitty-gritty skills

Access more nuance, color, size, expression, and agency in voice, body language, and presence, via real tools from a variety of disciplines and practices. Covered topics include facilitation, rhetoric, negotiation, dealing with interruptions, managing difficult conversations, and more.

  • Managing the feels

“Fearless” speaking isn’t a thing . . . but brave speaking is. Gain a bone-deep knowledge of Why Your Body Does That Thing, practice how to channel nerves and fear, and learn how to talk about yourself, your mission, and your brand even in moments of high stress.

  • Better together

Join an intimate network of fellow power players who will inspire you, share in your challenges, and celebrate your triumphs. As individuals we are strong . . . as a group, we ride at dawn, and we are unstoppable.

Want in on the action?

Burn that list of checkboxes.

Grab a crayon, a karaoke mic, or your dancin’ shoes. If spreadsheets are your love language, hell, grab them too.  Here’s what we know: There is no hand gesture, no single word or phrase to add or subtract, no formula to follow. If there were, you would have found it.

This isn’t about more research, due diligence, or discipline. In fact, we want you to leave the “discipline” at the door.

We choose craft. We choose play. We choose ease. We choose community.

“I thought the diversity of the group was amazing.

I’ve never been a part of a group of women that diverse in my career, EVER.”

Hear from Evelyne Keomian (founder of the Karat School Project and member of cohort #1) about her experience with the intensive.

Got a personal development budget at work? We’ve put a simple email together for you to introduce the course to your company here.

Meet your coaches, Casey and Julie

We co-founded Vital Voice Training to change the conversation about what leaders are “supposed” to sound like.

We help our clients speak, sell, pitch, and present their ideas with authentic confidence, an embodied voice, and a deep connection to their core values.

We teach people (shame free) to use their full voice and access their full power, while also recognizing that we exist in systems that we don’t have full control over.

We believe in shifting systems from the inside and challenging systems from the outside.

And we believe in the beauty and necessity of your voice.

“It just feels like life put you both in my path at exactly the moment that I needed . . .

Everything that happened in the course felt so thought out — like a puzzle, like you were building us slowly, knowing where to push to this place of discomfort, but then bringing us back and giving us that safe space. It really felt so masterful. Exactly the right thing at the right time.

I'm a pretty cerebral human, right? I’m always stuck in my head, for good and for bad. But the grounding in the body . . . I mean something as basic as the breath work! The skills that you gave me pushed exactly where I needed to be pushed.

I know that I have to believe in my own value, in my own words, and in myself and my brilliance. And I would try to say it but not really believe it, you know? Like, it felt like empty words . . . “Oh yeah, I believe in myself.” But then it really felt through the process like I was actually bringing substance to that.

I walked out of that experience really believing.

—Karen, Cohort #2

Who is POWER/PLAY for? Meet the archetypes:

  • You’ve spent your life getting straight A’s…

You check all the boxes, invest in yourself and your growth, listen to and apply ALL the feedback (no matter how vague, contradictory, or just plain weird it is) . . . and honestly, you’re kind of sick of it.

Why doesn’t it FEEL good? Why do you keep getting passed over?

What if instead of external markers of “correct” that you had to match, you had an unshakeable internal power grid? What if you found your inner rebel — and it turned out she was fantastic at running the show?

  • Once upon a time, you were a badass.

You were fearless. Risk-taking. Then you realized blending in was a hell of a lot safer . . . and it got you far enough.

So you adapted. You adjusted. You accommodated. You did what you had to do to survive and succeed, and somewhere along the way you started blending into the wallpaper.

Now you wonder what it might be like to show your full color self again—with all her needs, wants, and opinions, and the ability to express them.

What if it’s not about leaving behind your shell like a naked lobster, but about building yourself a new, colorful, breathable set of armor? What if you gained a bounce in your step and a little (or a lot of) judicious rule-breaking and risk-taking? What if you could sidestep the Sisyphean life of accommodation and invisible labor, get your light back, AND SHINE THE WAY FOR OTHERS?

  • “Who am I to be doing this?”

You’re getting noticed—pushed out onstage, in front of increasingly high-up people.

The stakes are getting higher and higher, and imposter syndrome is rearing its ugly head. To do the work you are called to, you have to be visible and audible.

What if a little imposter syndrome is just a sign that you’re on exactly the right path — AND you had the tools to invite that little voice in your head for a round in the kickboxing ring (or over for a cozy cup of tea)? What if you KNEW your value, and the question became “who am I NOT to be doing this?” What if you could chuck the idea that there is anyone else out there better to live your life or speak your words than you are?

  • You’ve been the star of the show before.

You know how it feels to shine . . . but deep down, the performance is exhausting and unsatisfying.

Too much has been shaved away, shoved down, and shellacked over in pursuit of the performance that pleases everyone. What else is there?

What if underneath the polish is a WAY more interesting version of you that’s just dying to come out and play? What if the spotlight can feel like the Caribbean sun, instead of a searchlight looking for all your flaws?

  • You’re surrounded by people who will always beat you in the “loudest voice wins” game.

You’re sick of swallowing your ideas like broken glass while other people get the credit and the glory.

Everybody listens to Chuck from Sales. Is that how you have to act?

What if the world needs your voice, exactly the size it is? What if your gifts make every table richer and more interesting? What if you knew that you can speak up with expertise, integrity, and power when you need to (and sometimes just because you feel like it)? What if you could wear your introversion like the cornerstone fashion piece that everyone keeps asking where you got it from?

  • You’ve been THROUGH it.

You’re a phoenix, a butterfly, a unicorn (or even a manticore) and you know you want to meet your edges instead of shrinking from them.

You’ve a sense that you’ve been incubating some real power, but (holy hell) you have no clue what to do AFTER the chrysalis stage. How do you Emerge without Exploding?

What if you are the cleansing forest fire that your corner of the world needs, AND you’re the gardener to help it rebuild? What if your edges and your extremes contain an infinite power supply? What if righteous anger and bubbling delight belong in the same universe? What if you could say, without apology, doubt, or reservation: “OUT OF THE WAY. MAMA IS COMING THROUGH.”
